FSN corrects material factual errors when they are identified. The objective is to make the published record more accurate and to be transparent when a meaningful correction changes what readers should understand.
What qualifies for a correction
Examples include an incorrect score, statistic, player status, transaction, quote attribution, date, team, contract detail or other factual statement. A clarification may be appropriate when the original statement was technically accurate but could reasonably mislead readers without additional context.
How corrections are handled
FSN may update the article body, headline, excerpt, metadata or related data display depending on where the error appears. When a correction materially changes the meaning of a story, FSN may add a visible correction or update note. Minor typographical, grammar or formatting fixes that do not change factual meaning may be corrected without a formal notice.
Updates are not corrections
A developing story may change as new facts become available. Adding genuinely new information can justify an updated timestamp. FSN should not artificially refresh an article’s date merely to make old information appear new.
Retractions and removals
Complete removal is reserved for unusual cases such as severe factual failure, legal obligations, privacy or safety concerns, or content that should not have been published. When practical, FSN prefers correction and context over quietly erasing the public record.
Request a correction
Use the FSN contact form, choose Correction request, include the article URL and identify the exact statement you believe is wrong. Links to primary evidence or authoritative reporting are especially helpful.
FSN reviews correction submissions for substance. Sending a request does not guarantee that FSN will agree with the requested change, but factual claims can be rechecked against available evidence and the site’s Editorial Standards.
